Player statuses
A status decides whether a player can join, whether they appear in the public API, and which denial screen they see.
Built-in statuses
| Status | Can join? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| whitelisted | Yes | Approved players. |
| neutral | No | The usual starting status for new players. |
| banned | No | Can carry a reason, shown on the denial screen. |
Custom statuses
Create your own statuses to match how your community works, for example a status for applicants who have submitted a form. Each status controls:
- whether players with it can join
- whether they appear in the public API
- which denial screen they use
Add custom statuses to your Gatekeeper configuration, then run:
/gatekeeper reload
List every status currently available with /gatekeeper statuses.
Building an onboarding flow
Statuses, profile fields, and denial screens work together. A player who isn't approved yet can be shown a screen that tells them how to apply, while your website or Discord bot reads their profile through the HTTP API and updates their status when you approve them.
